Postcard #21- Brought to you by the letter “B”
It occurred to me that my weekend was all about the “B”s: Banjos,a bike sale, boxes, baked beans, BBQ and as always Boston Terriers. I’ve been wanting to learn how to play the banjo and I was dismayed to learn that Maytan Music Center does not rent or sell banjos so I knew I was going to have to buy one- but where? Craigslist or the Big Nickel of course! I looked at the Big Nickel (no banjos for sale), but I did see my friend’s advertisement for their annual bike sale so I did what any good friend does:I called him up and razzed about advertising in the Big Nickel (no offense!). Coot knew of a banjo being sold at a garage sale the next morning but I would be able to look at it before it went on sale- sold to the girl who loves the banjo! Now I’m looking for a (patient) banjo teacher and a new banjo case. My next B involved Coot and Fluff’s bike sale the next morning- I did not buy a bike, but I did comment how great the bicycles were and I’d like to think that I helped to sell at least one. Later in the day, John and I returned to Coot’s house for a BBQ, complete with baked beans, barbecued chicken and two little boys who threatened to drench me with a hose. I had a great time and didn’t want the evening to end, but I had to get up early to finish packing up my classroom. Earlier in the week I went to Lowes and bought sturdy boxes and packing tape. Even though I was low on motivation I powered up on coffee and filled those boxes full of my teaching stuff. Later in the day John loaded up the boxes and they are now sitting in a storage unit on 4th street. Boston terriers are always part of my day and I couldn’t resist taking a picture of Lucille playing her in tub of water. I did take a picture of Lillian and the banjo, but for some reason it won’t show up on my desktop. So there you go, sorry this is so late, but I’ve been busy.
Ah, the letter B. You used it for such nice things too. I love it that you found a Banjo, hope you find a teacher too. I drug mine around for years and played with it but never found a teacher. It’s not easy to learn all by yourself, at least for me it’s not. Missed you the last day of school too. We must connect this 5 weeks off. K?
